I have come out to the very few over my Twi-obsession. Most of my facebook friends have had to remain in the dark. I think my sister-n-law sneaks looks on the Facebook Twilight Moms group page. The aunt of mine who turned me on to it didn't know how far my obsession had progressed. Then she saw my "Isle Esme" painting. She liked my painting, but initially I told her the title, and she said "oh no", and started giggling. I told her it's her fault she sired me into it. I've stayed closeted on the surface, but my stepchildren have seen my myspace page and I'm sure they know by now. I came out to a male friend today about it, and he said "Cool, whatever floats your boat." I'm still hoping to turn my sister-n-law on to it. Talk about a miracle. I was just curious as to how others have handled this with family members. Rolling Eyes

Hey Suzanne, I know what you mean. I was hoping to share my joy in reading the books with family and friends, but instead I’d got slammed for even suggesting it. Part of the comments go something like, "your a 48 year old happily married woman, mother of two great teens, and your sitting around your house reading some teen vampire novel". What is with you?

First, finding this forum helps a lot - no judgments. Secondly, my husband, in his Edward'isc manner, wants me to be happy - so he defends my right to read and reread the books - even though it takes my time away from him. Finally, and honestly, the fact that Edward is such a turn on, only makes for a better time in bed for me and my Beloved Hubby. No, I’m not fantasizing about Edward, it’s the romantic concept that I’m drawn too. So far, Hubby hasn’t had any complaints!

Just stand with a devious smile on your face, and bring back all those delicious scenes we have running in our heads – and the hell with everyone else!

You're sooo right! And delicious scenes? OH yeah. In the book AND the movie. And pics of Rob, A feast for mine eyes. I'm going through a divorce, but that was going on before I read Twilight, so I really have no DH to talk about, and I'm sorry, but another one will come my way when the time is right. But I don't fantasize about Edward/Rob. I however can't get enough of looking at him. I love the LOVE story about Edward and bella, It's a sweet, magical one. Let the naysayers naysay, phooey on them.

RocDay and Suzanne--I couldn't agree more. Perhaps you have a new acronym there RocDay THWEE (The Hell With Everyone Else)--I like it. My good friends, family and husband don't judge me too harshly because they have all known me for so long that they think this whole obsession ties in with my playful nature--especially when it comes to my Pocket Edward. I have never been one to worry too much about what other people think--I think just knowing I am not totally insane helps--that, or maybe we are all totally insane--at least we can be insane together. tongue

Hey VitaminR70 - I absolutely LOVE that ... THWEE (The Hell With Everyone Else), a "tha-wee"! Should put that one in acronyms, just to draw upon it later, especially when the movie comes out. I'll need it then more than ever!
Suzanne, I don't pretend to know what you're going through, but some heart-fluttering-Edward-dreaming can't be bad. I too ".. love the LOVE story" so why not hold on to it when you need that feeling the most. Almost sounds like Twilight came out at just the right time for you - I know it did for me. (Lost both my parents last year - and was feeling VERY alone - even with a loving family by me).
Twilight seems to fill a void that I wasn't sure existed within myself - but now that I know how to fill in the hole, I don't want anyone to try and dig it out.
Oh, and PLEASE call me Rochelle ... !

Ladies, you rock, oops, I mean you SPARKLE! Yes I would say Twilight came along at the right time. I think it's the most passionate classic themed book series to come around in a long time. I think it will be read for generations to come. Sparkle on! Very Happy

At my birthday party, one of my Twilight friends told another friend that I called the city of Forks cause I wanted to know how to get there since the city has no airport. The non-Twilight friend gave me a look of confusion and concern. I don't tell many people about Twilight mainly because I don't care to see someone roll their eyes and say anything negative.

No eye rolling here Twifessions. If you need travel info, I live in Seattle and know some great place to go on the Olympic Peninsula and would be happy to help you out. There is also lots of info now online for Twilight fans planning a trip (pilgramage) to Forks.

I think most of us have experienced the eye rolling and people thinking we are nuts. I am a 38 year old, happily married, mother of two and most of my friends don't know--only a couple really know just how obsessed I really am. Hang in there.

Thanks VitaminR. I probably won't make it to Forks this year since I'm already going to Twicon, but hopefully sometime next year I can make it.
